Adbrands Weekly Update
31st Oct 2013:
Red Bull's celebrity in extreme or fast-paced sports now easily
rivals its renown as a soft drink. The Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team notched
up its 4th consecutive championship this week, and star driver
Sebastien Vettel - still only 26 - became the youngest driver ever to collect four drivers'
championships. Only three other drivers have managed that feat, and none of
them under the age of 30.
Adbrands Weekly Update 21st Mar 2013:
In a bold move, Red Bull went public over extortion threats it has received in its home market of Austria. The company disclosed that blackmailers have been threatening to contaminate cans of Red Bull with faeces if not paid off. The company has refused to negotiate,
preferring instead to go public in order to remove the "blackmailer's greatest lever" of disclosing the threat themselves in the media. According to Austrian police officials, so far there have been no reports of actual contamination, merely threats.
Adbrands Weekly Update 29th Nov 2012:
Underlining the continuing
power of F1, Red Bull followed up the huge global success of its Stratos global "space jump" with a third consecutive victory in both the drivers' and constructors' championships, following the final race of the season in Brazil last weekend. It also welcomed new sponsor Nissan to the
fold. The Japanese automaker's luxury brand Infiniti will gain a title above the door as co-sponsor of what will become Infiniti Red Bull Racing from next year.
Adbrands Weekly Update 18th Oct 2012:
Congratulations to Felix
Baumgartner who successfully completed his death-defying skydive last Sunday, freefalling for 24 miles from the edge of space, at speeds of up to 834 mph, and generating acres of publicity for his sponsor, the energy drink Red Bull. Baumgartner himself set three new world records, while around
8m people watched the live stream of the jump on YouTube, setting a 4th record for the biggest concurrent online audience for a live event.
