PPR (France)

French
conglomerate PPR (known as Pinault-Printemps-Redoute until 2006) specialises in two main
sectors of luxury goods and
retail. Gucci Group, which PPR acquired in 1999 in a bruising takeover battle
with LVMH, is the umbrella for all its
high-end fashion and accessories
brands, and is the world's #3 luxury goods group behind LVMH and Richemont.
However PPR is primarily France's biggest general retail group, controlling the
store chains FNAC and Conforama as well as a substantial mail order business
built around La Redoute and other catalogues, and a huge wholesale and
distribution arm. It acquired control of sportswear group Puma in 2007. Click here to find out
