Nestlé Japan coordinates the manufacture or marketing of a wide range of group products in the local market. Many of these brands are produced under licensing or joint venture arrangements with local partners. However the group's biggest business here by far is coffee, which accounts for more than half of sales, as well as the enormously popular Kit Kat confectionery brand. Nestlé has a long history in Japan, and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its launch there in 2013.
