Allied Domecq (UK)

Previously the world's #2 spirits company, Allied Domecq was acquired in 2005 by #3 drinks group Pernod-Ricard for around $14bn. The company was broken up and its drinks portfolio, including Ballantine's, Beefeater, Kahlua, Montana Wines and Malibu Rum among others, shared between Pernod and co-bidder Fortune Brands. The group's fast food chains, including Dunkin Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, were sold at the end of 2005, and now operate as an independent company, Dunkin Brands.
