Much
admired during the 1990s, independent creative agency Leagas Delaney
came under intense pressure in the early 2000s. Plans
to build a wider global role by selling out to Canadian company Envoy Communications
fell apart in the wake of post-2000 market turmoil.
Instead the agency developed a small international network of its own with
the intention of staying single. But a series of major account losses in
2003 pushed the shop into administration, and it restructured in
early 2004 in order to continue trading. Although it
survived these financial problems, new business performance has remained
