Nestlé Rowntree (UK)


Nestlé Rowntree is the UK's #3 confectionery company (after Cadbury, and now behind Mars). It has a sizeable portfolio of well-known brands, but its share of the sector has eroded in recent years with a series of unsuccessful spin-offs. By far the biggest brand is Kit Kat, which is also one of the UK's top selling confectionery products (and #11 overall consumer brand). The brand received an additional boost in 1999 from the launch of Kit Kat Chunky. Since then however performance has stalled. Senior management was overhauled in late 2003 in order to refocus the business, and then again in 2005 when that revamp failed to deliver results.
