Scottish & Newcastle (Heineken UK)

Previously
the UK's leading brewer, Scottish & Newcastle ceased to exist as
an independent company in May 2008 following acceptance of a break-up bid by
Carlsberg
and Heineken. It had
featured for many years
high on the list of potential takeover targets in the rapidly consolidating
beer market.
Carlsberg took full control of Baltic Beverages, Russia's leading
brewer, as well as S&N's
French subsidiary Kronenbourg and its operations in Greece and China.
Heineken assumed control of S&N's core UK operations - where its
market-leading beers include Foster's
and John Smith's - as well as
interests in Portugal, Finland and India. The Scottish & Newcastle name
is still used for the UK operations of Heineken International. Click here to access the Adbrands profile (subscribers only); or subscribe to Adbrands.net here.
