There was some succession planning at JWT, in anticipation of Bob Jeffrey's move to a non-executive role at the end of next year. The network raided McCann to select his successor as CEO. Gustavo Martinez, currently regional director for McCann Europe & Asia, is to join JWT in the new year as
global president. He will succeed Jeffrey as CEO at the end of 2014, at which point Jeffrey will become non-executive chairman. "Over the past few years Gustavo and I have cultivated a relationship of mutual admiration and respect," said Jeffrey in a statement. "He is passionate about the business, devoted to clients and understands that the key asset of the business is the caring, nurturing and understanding of its people. Gustavo Martinez is the future of
JWT." His replacement at McCann has yet to be named.

Adbrands Weekly Update 15th Aug 2013: McCann Germany local creative head Bill Biancoli has resigned after two successful years in that role, apparently to launch his own agency. His successor has yet to be named.
Adbrands Weekly Update 8th Aug 2013: Ads of the Week: Jose Cuervo "Have A Story" by McCann New York. Kiefer Sutherland reprises his grizzled and self-deprecating charm in McCann New York's spot for Jose Cuervo tequila. No cupcakes this time for Kiefer, just bonsais, new tats and a zither, and it's not often you see all those items in the same commercial.
Adbrands Weekly Update 4th Jul 2013: Jose Cuervo tequila, now divorced from former distribution partner Diageo, appointed McCann to manage US creative, while media moves to indie Gotham Direct.
Adbrands Weekly Update 27th Jun 2013: The Cannes Lions festival came to a crescendo on Sunday, setting at least two new records. McCann Australia's sublime Dumb Ways To Die animation for Melbourne Metro was the most awarded ad in the festival's history,
adding two more Grand Prix in Integrated and Film, bringing its total to five in all. It also scooped up another 23 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, to amass a final tally of 28 awards. That success also helped boost Australia into the #2 spot behind the US as the most awarded country.
Adbrands Weekly Update 13th Jun 2013: In New York, McCann poached former TBWA exec Suzanne Powers to become global chief strategy officer; she is joining McCann from the same role at CP&B.
Adbrands Weekly Update 6th Jun 2013: McCann Worldgroup named Bill Kolb, formerly CEO of its digital arm MRM, as chairman & CEO of dedicated Chevrolet agency Commonwealth, and of the wider General Motors account. He retains the title of chairman at
MRM, which is now led by president Michael Mclaren.
Adbrands Weekly Update 30th May 2013: In North America, Dentsu picked up its first combined creative & media account, following the selection by office products retailer Staples of McGarryBowen and Carat. The business is worth around $90m in billings. That was a blow to incumbent McCann, which has otherwise had a very strong new business run so far this year. There was some compensation for McCann from the capture of two smaller UK accounts for prestige retailer Harrods and soon-to-launch local TV station London Live.
