Ad Expenditure: US$156.47bn 2013 GroupM Forecast This Year Next Year December 2012

The US is the world's biggest and most sophisticated advertising market, and the one in which virtually all aspects of the modern marketing industry were conceived and developed. With estimated ad expenditure of almost $160bn in 2013, it is bigger than the next three global markets (China, Japan and Germany) combined. Inevitably, given its level of sophistication, its industry is divided up into numerous different disciplines. Most advertising agencies also offer a broad range of other "full service" marketing disciplines; others agencies specialise in one or two niche areas; for example healthcare or PR.
