Adbrands Weekly Update
31st Oct 2013: Ads of the Week: "Built Free". Wieden & Kennedy widen their brief for Chrysler Group with a turn
here on the Jeep account. It has less of the humour displayed in their
Dodge campaigns, but offers a beautifully succinct encapsulation of Jeep's brand
position of adventure and personal freedom, ably supported by some lovely
imagery and an intelligent and articulate script. Very nice.
Adbrands Weekly Update 12th Sep 2013: Tax software developer TurboTax moved media from Initiative to Wieden & Kennedy, which already handles creative
Adbrands Weekly Update 29th Aug 2013:
Wieden & Kennedy expanded its position on P&G's roster with the capture of Herbal Essences haircare from Leo Burnett. Can it work the same magic as it has with Old Spice?
Adbrands Weekly Update 22nd Aug 2013: Ads of the Week: "Possibilities". Let's kick off with this very cool spot from Wieden & Kennedy which celebrates 25 years of the "Just Do It" slogan. Several of Nike's top endorsement partners make cameo
appearances but, hey, the real star is you the ordinary consumer. This is what you can do if you put your mind to it. Good luck with that! What a great
punchline, and an excellent voiceover performance from Bradley Cooper, who hereby makes amends for that horrendous Haagen-Dazs ad he's in at the
Adbrands Weekly Update 8th Aug 2013: Ads of the Week: "Love Every Mouthful: Chicken". We like Wieden & Kennedy London's follow-up in its new Tesco food campaign just as much as its predecessor. And it never stops being a pleasure to hear Jean-Jacques Burnel's bone-crunching bassline from the old
Stranglers hit Peaches.
Adbrands Weekly Update 25th Jul 2013: Ads of the Week: "Love Every Mouthful". The new campaign by Wieden & Kennedy London for Tesco sets out to demonstrate the supermarket giant's commitment to quality food, without resporting to M&S-style "food porn". Instead,
we have humour, great imagery and a persuasive argument. It's a commendable move in the right direction, away from that over-concentration on price and affordability which has come to dominate supermarket advertising. There's also an excellent Making Of film to accompany the ad.
Adbrands Weekly Update 18th Jul 2013:
Intuit shifted its TurboTax tax preparation software from Dailey & Associates to Wieden & Kennedy.
Adbrands Weekly Update 4th Jul 2013: Ads of the Week: "Hands". First up this week is one of the best ads we've seen all year, from Wieden &
Kennedy London for Honda. This has got to be one of the toughest briefs you can get for an ad: "Show the full range of all our products, from cars to engines and from leafblowers to lawnmowers. Don't forget the robot. And make it entertaining." W&K carry it off to
perfection, with wit, inventiveness and originality. We especially like the little nods towards their own past successes for Honda with the "Cog" and "Grrr" ads.
Adbrands Weekly Update 20th Jun 2013: Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam took top prize in Creative Effectiveness at the Cannes Lions festival with their ongoing "Legendary" campaign for Heineken.
