Cott Corporation has undergone a radical transformation since 2014. It was traditionally known as one of the world's biggest soft drinks manufacturers, but always had a low profile among consumers because it specialised in producing private label products for retailers. In fact the company is largely credited with revitalising the supermarket own-label beverage market during the early 1990s, scoring a number of important goals including the introduction of Sam's American Choice cola by Walmart and Sainsbury's Classic Cola in the UK. Its small portfolio of consumer brands included RC Cola, Stars & Stripes and Red Rain. In 2014, though, Cott moved into home and office water delivery with the purchase of DS Services, originally a US joint venture between Danone and Suntory before it was sold to private equity, and subseuquently its European counterpart Eden Springs. Further purchases in the office coffee and tea sector prompted Cott's decision to exit soft drinks more or less altogether in 2017 with the sale of that heritage business to European competitor Refresco for $1.25bn. Cott's main operating companies now are DS Services in the US, its Canadian counterpart Aquaterra and Europe-wide supplier Eden Springs. Its water cooler brands include Sparkletts, Hinckley Springs, Kentwood Springs, Canadian Springs, Labrador and Eden Springs. S&D Coffee & Tea is the largest custom roaster and blender of coffee and tea for US food service and convenience operators. Jerry Fowden is group CEO. Revenues were $2.3bn in 2017. Home & office water and coffee delivery accounted for two-thirds of that sum.
