Cott Corporation has traditionally been known as one of the world's biggest soft drinks manufacturers, but always had a low profile among consumers because it specialises in producing private label products for retailers. In fact the company is largely credited with revitalising the supermarket own-label beverage market during the early 1990s, scoring a number of important goals including the introduction of Sam's American Choice cola by Walmart and Sainsbury's Classic Cola in the UK. Its small portfolio of consumer brands include RC Cola, Stars & Stripes and Red Rain. More recently it moved into home and office water delivery with the purchase of DS Services of the US, and then into tea and coffee. That led to the decision to exit soft drinks altogether in 2017 with the sale of the heritage division to European competitor Refresco.
