Media Experts Canada


Media Experts was until recently the last sizeable media independent left in Canada, claiming to be the only media shop of any size in the country that was still Canadian-owned. Based in Montreal, there are also offices in Toronto and Vancouver. It was founded in 1981 by Mark Sherman, then a 24 year old sales manager at a local radio station. Almost incredibly, Sherman resisted the temptation to cash in his chips for almost 25 years. He finally accepted an offer in 2015 from Interpublic, and Media Experts is now a third brand within Canada for the IPG Mediabrands umbrella. Sherman remains chairman & CEO, and a minority shareholder. The agency is also co-founder with creative shop Zulu Alpha Kilo of social welfare organisation People For Good. Adbrands does not currently offer a business profile for Media Experts but subscribers may access account assignments and contact information for the agency. Adbrands Weekly Update 29th Oct 2015: Interpublic has agreed to take a majority stake in Canada's biggest media independent, Media Experts. No price tag was disclosed and the agency will retain a separate identity under the IPG Mediabrands umbrella, working alongside UM and Initiative. Founder & CEO Mark Sherman is to remain as leader.
