Nurun is a leading digital agency, founded and still nominally headquartered in Montreal, but with additional offices worldwide, offering a broad range of interactive creative, technology and consultancy services. It was owned until 2014 by Quebecor, the leading media group in French-speaking Canada. That year, Publicis Groupe acquired Nurun for $125m. Following the deal with Publicis Groupe, several of Nurun's existing international offices were absorbed into Razorfish. The remaining four outposts in North America, Spain and China were realigned with the Publicis Worldwide network. Nurun's original Paris office became Razorfish, but local digital agency Publicis Modem adopted the Publicis Nurun name in 2015, until itself being absorbed into the main Publicis Conseil ad agency in early 2017. Meanwhile the original Nurun business added new outposts of its own, rebuilding its international network to around 19 offices in 16 countries by the end of 2018, some under the Nurun name or via other Publicis Worldwide satellites such as Poke in London, Pixelpark in Germany and AG2 in Sao Paulo. It continues to operate as a division of the Publicis Worldwide network. The agency was originally founded in 1999 from the merger of Quebecor's IT consultancy and fledgling ecommerce units Intellia and Infomission, and expanded a year later with the acquisition of the French interactive agency Cythere, whose founder Jacques-Herve Roubert became CEO of Nurun worldwide. Roubert left the group quietly following the buyout. Publicis Communications chief Arthur Sadoun remains titular CEO of Nurun; Dawn Winchester at Publicis New York is global managing director. Adbrands Weekly Update 17th Sep 2015: The Publicis Modem digital brand will finally be consigned to history this month with the rebranding of its last major outpost - in France - to Publicis Nurun, after the French-Canadian digital network acquired by the group late last year and split up between Publicis Worldwide and Razorfish. The original Paris outpost of Nurun became Razorfish France; now the name is resurrected once more. The global Publicis Modem network was created in 2007 following the group's acquisition of US group ModemMedia and its merger with what was then Publicis Dialog.
Adbrands Weekly Update 20th Nov 2014: Publicis Groupe confirmed details of the break-up of Canadian digital agency Nurun's global network. Six of Nurun's offices in Canada and Europe are to be absorbed into the Razorfish Global network; the remaining four in Montreal, San Francisco, Madrid and Shanghai will retain the Nurun branding, but will operate under the umbrella of the Publicis Worldwide network. According to the press release Publicis Worldwide will "maintain the Nurun brand as the umbrella for its digital offering globally", but it's not clear if this will involve the rebranding of any existing Publicis Modem outposts.
