In a surprise development, Omnicom announced the merger in Sept 2015 of its existing TBWA\Toronto outpost into wholly owned standalone unit Juniper Park, under the latter's management team and creative leadership. The combined agency adopted the new name of Juniper Park\TBWA. Former TBWA\Canada chief Jay Bertram left the group at that time and was succeeded by Jill Nykoliation, CEO and co-founder of Juniper Park. Graham Lang joined as CCO in 2017 from Y&R South Africa. TBWA continues to operate a Francophone agency in Montreal under the name Tam-Tam TBWA. Canada was the first international outpost of the old Chiat Day agency, which opened an office here in 1988, before being absorbed into TBWA in 1995. TBWA established an office in Vancouver in 2000 with the purchase of local shop Bryant Fulton & Shee, but that office was later sold to management and relaunched in 2011 under a new name and ownership. Juniper Park was originally launched in 2007 by a breakaway team from creative-led Grip, with funding from Omnicom, and it quickly established a role as one of the lead agencies alongside BBDO on the PepsiCo account. However the amount of work it produced for PepsiCo gradually reduced as a result of the addition of other clients in Canada. Adbrands Weekly Update 27th Aug 2015: Another thunderbolt in Canada's advertising market: Omnicom announced the departure of TBWA\Canada CEO Jay Bertram and the merger of TBWA\Toronto into standalone unit Juniper Park, which was realigned with the TBWA network earlier this year from its previous affiliation to BBDO. The enlarged agency adopts the name Juniper Park\TBWA and will be led by the smaller agency's management team, headed by CEO Jill Nykoliation. It's the second such overhaul of a long-standing Canadian agency this summer, following the merger by WPP of its local Y&R outpost into standalone unit Taxi.
