The main Havas Paris outpost serves as the central core for a galaxy of separate agencies that make Havas still the #1 agency in France, even if it is outclassed on the global stage by arch-rival Publicis. The jewel in this collection is arguably creative hothouse BETC, spun out of the network's Paris HQ as a separate entity in 2012 at the same time that the old Euro RSCG name was dropped in favour of Havas Worldwide. Instead, a new Havas Paris agency was created from the merger of what was then Euro RSCG C&O, originally a specialist in financial and corporate advertising, with integrated agency Havas 360. The resulting unit, renamed Havas Paris, quickly became a creative force in its own right, and it is now partnered by a number of other separate satellites under the overall umbrella of Havas Village France. Some of these originated as dedicated units for a single client. Rosapark, for example, was created to manage the Monoprix supermarket account but now also handles several other clients. Havas 04 launched in 2017 to manage leading bank Societe Generale. Another unit until 2018 was Humanseven, itself the result of several successive changes over the years. It was created at the end of 2017 from what was previously Les Gaulois, which was itself the product of a merger four years earlier by separate units H Paris and LeG, each of whom had their own history of mergers and re-mergers. The key thread running through Les Gaulois, H Paris and other predecessor agencies had been the local account for Citroen auto. Its transfer to BETC in 2017 led to the restructure of Les Gaulois as Humanseven. With insufficient additional business to support its standalone existence, Humanseven was merged back into the main Havas Paris agency at the end of 2018. Ironically the Citroen account moved again during that year to its own dedicated unit spun out of BETC under the name Traction. Raphael de Andreis is chairman & CEO of Havas Village France. In 2017, Havas Paris president Agathe Bousquet handed in her resignation after more than 15 years with the group to join rival Publicis Groupe as country manager for France. Julien Carette and Christophe Coffre are now co-chairman.

And what a brilliant idea on Skoda's part. We won't spoil the surprise, but let's just say this is a really good selling point for any dog owners. I have no idea just how practical it might be but, hey, it's the thought that counts

Adbrands Weekly Update 4th Oct 2018: Havas said it will merge its Paris-based standalone agency Humanseven into the main outpost of Havas creative by the end of the year. A new Havas Seven unit will survive the merger, but the two agencies will be structurally unified. Humanseven's president Elizabeth Billiemaz is joining the main agency as EVP, advertising expertise & creative excellence, but creative chief Xavier Beauregard is departing the group.

Adbrands Social Media 25th Jun 2018: "The Fishing Game". French tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lends his comedy skills to an entertaining campaign from Havas Paris for new web design service Hubside, a French rival to the likes of Wix or Squarespace. They must have plenty of cash for their launch, because the digital effects alone won't have been cheap, nor is star director Matthijs Van Heijningen. Here's hoping Tsonga is fully recovered from his adventures in time for Wimbledon next week. 

Adbrands Social Media 24th Apr 2018: "Forward". Citroen last year moved its account in France to newly created dedicated BETC satellite Traction (whose debut work we recently featured here). The business transferred from another Havas Paris unit, now Humanseven, who have finally unveiled what is presumably their last piece of work for the client, a year in the making apparently. It's a lovely film (though far too long), and ingenious to say the very least. Just shows how some people will go to considerable effort to bring an idea to life. 

Adbrands Social Media 12th Apr 2018: "Worst Song in the World". Havas-owned Rosapark puts the boot into 80s music and especially those accompanying videos in an entertaining spot for supermarket Monoprix. In all honesty the gag is a bit of a stretch. Why doesn't she just turn it off if it's so awful? Well we won't spoil the groan-worthy punchline. But even if the concept lacks conviction the execution is pretty flawless. There have been many not-so-fond pastiches of 80s music videos over the years, but this is definitely the best-worst we've ever seen. We particularly like the vfx on that saxophone solo.
