Once one of the best-known brands in financial communications, Financial Dynamics - or FD as it was subsequently known - was fully absorbed into parent group FTI Consulting in 2011, becoming that company's strategic communications division. The parent group provides a range of consulting services including corporate finance, restructuring, litigation support and management consultancy. The strategic communications division is one of the world's foremost specialists in financial and corporate communications. Key strengths include investor relations and financial PR, M&A, public affairs, IPO consultancy and crisis and issues management. It was The Holmes Report's EMEA PR Consultancy of the Year in 2017. There are offices in 14 countries, including all the world's leading business centres. Steven Gunby is group CEO, with Mark McCann as leader of FTI Consulting Strategic Communications. FTI reported total revenues of $1.81bn in 2017, but strategic communications is one of its smallest divisions, contributing revenues of $192m. Financial Dynamics was originally founded in London in 1986 by Tony Knox, previously CEO of WPP's Addison Communications. It was acquired by Lighthouse Group in 1999, which was in turn acquired by marketing group Cordiant in the early 2000s before being bought back by management. It was sold to FTI in 2006.
