Integrated marketing group Golley Slater is one of the UK's leading regional agencies. Headquartered in Cardiff in Wales, it built up a network of offices in several other cities across the country in the 2000s, including London, Birmingham and Leeds and Glasgow, offering a variety of below-the-line disciplines including PR, telemarketing and direct response as well as mainstream advertising. However several of these regional outposts were closed or sold during 2016, with operations concentrated in Cardiff and London. The business was founded in Cardiff in 1957 by actor John Slater and BBC executive John Golley, becoming one of the first regional agencies in the UK to offer TV advertising to clients. It remained primarily a Welsh agency until John Golley's brother Alastair took over management of the business in 1975. He established a presence in London as well as several other major British cities. In 2003, the agency was bought out by a management team led by CEO Chris Lovell, and continued to expand through a series of further acquisitions, most of which were absorbed into the main Golley Slater structure. Lovell stepped down in 2013, handing management back to controlling shareholder Golley and new CEO David Longden. Turnover for ye 2016 was £23m.
