Libertine is a London-based integrated agency offering a range of advertising, direct marketing and digital services. It was created at the end of 2007 from the merger of two separate creative agencies, RPM3 and Beechwood. That agreement followed two years of informal talks between the agencies' principals. The Libertine name - a reference to the 17th century poet and freethinker the Earl of Rochester - was unveiled in 2008. Mark Brandis (ex RPM3) and John Wood (ex Beechwood) are managing partners and jointly own the business. The agency no longer files a corporate profit and loss account. Its most recent stated profit figures were for the year to January 2011, with revenues of £5.2m, and a pretax profit of almost £69,000. RPM3 was formed at the beginning of 1998 out of the merger of former Saatchi's breakaway Cowan Kemsley Taylor with Butler Lutos Sutton Wilkinson. Beechwood was launched in 1997 by Philip Beeching, previously the account director for HMV record stores at Yellowhammer, with partner John Wood.
