Total Media is among the largest of the UK's remaining media independents. The privately owned agency handles mainly smaller accounts, with a solid track record in arts or cultural clients. More recently though it picked up two important technology accounts in Lenovo and Epson. It also established an alliance with German media independent Mediaplus, part of the Serviceplan group. Nielsen estimated billings of £33m in 2017, up 20% on the year before. However reported billings were significantly higher, up 27% to almost £71m, a best-ever result. Gross profit was £8.3m. The business is still controlled and run by executive chairman Mike Sell, who launched the business in 1982 following a career at Davidson Pearce and Interlink. Guy Sellers is chief executive.
