The UK arm of WPP's Wunderman worldwide CRM network is one of country's top-ranked digital & direct agencies, with particular strength in customer relationship management. The agency works under the umbrella of the Y&R Brands group, alongside advertising agency Y&R London. Wunderman has been operating in the UK for more than 40 years, but the current business was formed in 2001 from the merger of the original local office with independent agency HPT Brand Response under the management of the latter's Steve Harrison and Martin Troughton. The resulting business was known for several years after that as Harrison Troughton Wunderman. The departure of its two managing partners led to a name-shortening in 2007. Mel Edwards is now local chairman, having transferred in 2013 from M&C Saatchi's LIDA. She was promoted to head of Wunderman's EMEA region in 2014. Pip Hulbert is CEO of Wunderman UK, while Stephan Pretorius was appointed in 2017 as UK group CEO, overseeing not only the main agency but also a collection of other satellite units acquired or launched by Wunderman over the past few years. These include Salmon - acquired by WPP in 2013 but left to run as a standalone unit for several years - and the local outpost of digital network Possible, both transferred under the Wunderman umbrella in 2017. Salmon now forms a cornerstone of a new Wunderman eCommerce division. Others include design agency Burrows, and more specialised digital agencies Acceleration, Cognifide and Fusepump.
