Assembly is the main media agency within marketing group MDC Partners. It was formed in March 2014 from the merger of RJ Palmer and TargetCast, independent media agencies that were acquired separately by MDC during 2012. The combined unit has also absorbed the media operations of selected other MDC-owned agencies, including Doner.

Adbrands Weekly Update 17th Dec 2015: MDC Partners expanded the reach of its US media business Assembly with the acquisition of Unique Influence, a social media agency in Austin, Texas. According to MDC, one major factor in the deal was Unique Influence's relationship with ad automation software developer Nanigans. "It's a technical area and gives us overnight a strong presence in mobile and social mobile," said MDC Media Partners CEO Martin Cass.
