Derse is a leading US promotional marketing agency with particular strengths in trade shows, marketing events and exhibitions; which it groups under the overall heading of "face-to-face marketing". It claims to manage more than 5,000 exhibits a year on behalf of 500 clients. Originally founded in 1948 by James Derse as a sign painting company, it expanded into events and trade shows in the 1950s. It was acquired by its two most senior managers in 1989 folloeing the founder's retirement. It is still privately owned. Based in Milwaukee, there are also five other offices across the US. Gross revenues dipped during the recession but have grown solidly since 2009, hitting a new high of almost $156m for 2015, before falling back to $148m for 2016. Adam Beckett succeeded controlling shareholder Bill Haney as CEO in 2014, but departed the group two years later. Brett Haney, Bill Haney's son, is now president. Bill Haney and co-owner Bill McNamara are chairman and vice chairman respectively.
