Grey Healthcare Group or GHG was traditionally the specialist professional healthcare marketing arm of Grey Group. However, in 2017, reporting responsibility for this and other healthcare agencies within WPP was transferred to a newly created centralised WPP Health & Wellness division. GHG still manages its own network of interlinked but separately branded companies clustered around the core agency in New York. Key satellites include medical education specialist Phase Five, market access consultant WG and conference organiser IMSCI. There is also a small international network formed from acquisitions including UK-based Darwin Healthcare and Germany's Strategie & Kommunikation. GHG also operates a digital joint venture in the US with WPP-owned VML under the name Healxx. The full GHG network currently extends to 8 offices in the US, and 9 more in the UK, Germany, France, Australia and Japan. A separate health & wellness unit, Grey Healthy People, was established within the main Grey Worldwide agency in 2011 to handle consumer healthcare campaigns. Grey Healthcare was originally Gross Townsend Frank Hoffman, founded in 1978. It acquired a PR arm in 1984, followed by medical education specialist Phase Five in 1986. That year the business was in turn acquired by Grey Worldwide. It rebranded as Grey Healthcare Group following the departure of its four original founders, with Phase Five's founder Lynn O'Connor Vos becoming CEO. She led the group for more than 20 years, finally departing in 2017 to become CEO of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She was succeeded by chief client officer Erin Byrne. Advertising Age estimated revenues of $130m for 2017. MM&M estimated $110m.

Adbrands Weekly Update 17th Aug 2017: Lyn O'Connor Vos, longtime CEO of WPP's GHG healthcare marketing agency, is to step down after more than two decades in that role. Her departure follows the realignment of WPP's various healthcare agencies under a newly created centralised umbrella. Previously, GHG had been a satellite of Grey Group, under the name Grey Healthcare Group. O'Connor Vos said the recent restructuring did not have an impact on her decision to leave the network. Following her departure, chief client officer Erin Byrne was promoted to CEO, Americas.
