InterTrend Communications (US)


InterTrend is a leading multicultural agency in the US specialising in the Asian-American market. Based in Long Beach, California, it was originally launched in 1991 by Julia Huang, at the time a financial analyst for a Japanese venture capital firm. At a business dinner with the president of Northwest Airlines, the Taiwanese-born, Japanese-raised Huang was asked why so few Asians flew Northwest to Asia. When she replied that it was because the ads were so bad, Northwest invited her to pitch for the account. It became the first client for her newly launched agency. Huang remains CEO and owner of the business. Advertising Age estimated US revenues of $11m in 2015.
