Selected Momentum marketing

Momentum is the sales promotion and field marketing arm of McCann Worldgroup. It is best-known for its live entertainment events, but also offers other services include PR, sports and entertainment sponsorship, retail marketing and digital media. Momentum claims to have invented so-called "experiential marketing", effectively sales promotion in its broadest form, creating positive brand experiences through large-scale live events, such as the Bud Bowl for Anheuser Busch, which Momentum ran for ten years, and live music concerts or sporting events on behalf of other blue chip clients. The business was set up in 1995 as Momentum IMC, a unit spun out of McCann-Erickson New York to handle event marketing and sponsorship. Having absorbed other like-minded units within the McCann network, Momentum acquired independent event marketer agency Ad:vent in 1996, installing its former owner Mark Dawley as chairman & CEO of the new group. He then embarked on a major expansion drive, acquiring a string of other sales promotions agencies around the globe. The network has been pruned slightly in recent years to around 30 branded offices in 20 countries. However, Momentum claims a presence in many more through the McCann network, making it one of the world's most extensive sales promotion networks. In most cases, it has dispensed with localized brandnames in favour of a uniform global Momentum brand. It also maintains close links with like-minded Interpublic stablemates, primarily McCann and other Worldgroup associates, but also PR and talent management agency PMK/BNC, which has deep Hollywood links. Chris Weil is chairman & CEO of Momentum Worldwide. For 2017, AdAge estimated revenues of $198m.
