Syneos Health is a diversified healthcare support services group, formed from the acquisition in 2017 of inVentiv Health by publicly quoted INC Research. The merged group adopted its new name the following year, borrowed from one of inVentiv's subsidiary businesses. It offers a broad range of outsourced healthcare services, including clinical research, consultancy, clinical trials, pharmaceutical strategy, sales and commercial support, and of course marketing. Its best-known subsdiairy in this field is the leading medical advertising agency GSW Worldwide. It is among the most highly regarded agencies in its field, named as Agency of the Year in 2018 in the Healthcare Marketing Impact Awards, and Creative Agency of the Year in 2019 in the Mannys. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, there are also five other offices across North America. Other units include branding specialist Addison Whitney, PR agencies Chandler Chicco and Chamberlain and medical communications companies Cadent and Litmus. Several of the agencies which previously operated under inVentiv's banner have been consolidated. Palio for example was absorbed into GSW in 2018. The current group is the result of a succession of different mergers and acquisitions that began with the creation of Ventiv Health in 2005 by marketing services group Snyder Communications. The merged group is led by INC's CEO Alistair Macdonald. Michelle Keefe joined from Publicis Health in 2017 to become president, commercial solutions. Sonja Foster-Storch is president, Syneos advertising; Lisa Storkman heads up communications. Total group revenues for 2018 were $4.4bn with net income of $24.3m. Almost 73% of revenues were generated by clinical solutions, with $1.2bn from commercial solutions. The group doesn't break out marketing from other commercial solutions, but AdAge and MM&M estimated combined revenues of around $245m in 2018.

Adbrands Weekly Update 11th Aug 2016: Healthcare marketing and outsourcing agency inVentiv has cancelled plans for an IPO this summer after receiving a large investment from private equity fund Advent, which will share ownership of the business with current investor Thomas H Lee Partners. Details of the deal have not been disclosed but are said to value the business at $3.8bn.
